Educational theory that is relevant to change management would be the social learning theory. In this theory the draw or educator has a responsibility to act as a role model. Social learning theory has been applied to education in breast feeding to maximise the use of support groups and to address psycho social problems. As an example from research it has shown that nurse managers who understand their responsibilities and roles in promoting a positive sound environment leads to enhances competence, learning and satisfaction (Kane-Urrabazo, C. 2006)Bandura states that people do not need to experience things directly to learn and that substantial learning happens by observing opposite peoples behaviour and what happens to them. Learning mass be seen as a social process and other individuals provide compelling examples for how to act find oneself and think. The principle of Role Modelling is to enable the student to observe a well-trained nurse work and therefore allows the student to foster the professional role. This does not unaccompanied involve the learning of clinical skills but learning about professional attitudes and interactions with patients and other members of healthcare staff (Quinn 1991). For this theory Role Modelling is a rudimentary concept and as an example a nurse with little experience would usually be mentored by a nurse with more experience who shows preferable behaviours and professional attitudes. In relation to nurse education the advantage of social learning theory is its focus on the social aspect of learning which occurs in a social environment, recognising the complexity of the person and the environment. Callery 1990 states that the same complexity makes interaction challenging and intervention complicated. The environment woul... .... Acetaminophen :: essays research papers

AcetaminophenIn the late 1800s it was discoered that papa-amino-phenol, could reduce fever, hardly the drug was too unhealthful to use. A less toxic extract called phenacetin was later found to be just as effective but also had pain-relieving properties. In 1949, it was learned that phenacetin was metabolized into an active but also less toxic drug, acetaminophen. Since then, acetaminophen has been sold under many over the counter brand names, most popular being Tylenol.Acetaminophen serves iodine basic purpose, to relieve pain. It is the main ingredient in pain killers that relieve headaches. It also substitutes anesthesia in circumcision surgery because anesthesia often cannot be utilise on infants. Dr. Michael Weitzman and 2 other doctors performed an experiment on an infant to test the effectiveness of the drug. The results were not identical, but there were increases in heart rate respiratory rate and crying. But the drug did more good as a pain reliever after the surgery t han before the surgery. Acetaminophen is ingested orally and is speedily and completely absorbed into the gastrointestinal tract. It works in about one hour. The liver detoxifies 90% of it by mixing it with sulfuric acid, and another 3-5% is catabolized by enzyme reactions to the acid. The metabolites be excreted in the urine. The dosage of the drug should be used according to the carton instructions. A 10 gram over dose in adults, 140 mg for kids, can cause permanent liver damage. Also if you had just taken some other drugs , The acetaminophen may become more toxic since the drugs ar catabolized in the liver. To protect yourself from injury, you should take 1 gram of vitamin C and Cysteine -a bodily antioxidant. The kidneys can be permanently damaged if you continuously take the drug over a long period of time. You can get all kinds of cancers such as heart, liver , kidney. 40 % increase There are no food supplements known to protect against kidney damage, but some amino acids s uch as Taurine powder and lots of Vitamin E might help. Some people jump-start the use of other OTC such as Aspirin, which also has other dangerous effects , but hopefully will reduce acetaminophen toxicity.

Public Vrs. Private Essay -- essays papers

frequent Vrs. PrivateThe Eternal Question Public or Private Consider this, you drive into the park lot of the public school and see the same five squad cars as every day, business as usual you think. You and your friends walk up to the room access and wait in line for the metal detectors. You put your keys in the tray and walk through the detector, it goes off. Two cops walk up to check your backpack. Pager in the grievous bodily harm got to go back to the car and put it away. Back through the metal detectors and they do not go off, thank God. You go to first conclusion, sit in your seat and the teacher locks the door. The drug dogs must be coming today. Second period and the dogs are still here, there must be something wrong. Third period starts and the class files in. The teacher is about to start and in walks the cops, they walk straight in your direction and up to the kid next to you. The kid stands the cop puts the apply cuffs on him and escorts him out. Oh, well on t hat point goes another mavin. Next is gym where your locker has no pad lock because last week two girls got into a argue and one beat the other one with your lock. The rest of the day is pretty usual, a couple of fights and a test. Sound extreme? Not for the students of Bloom racy School, this is a good day. In the same town a mile away there is a Private Catholic High School this is their day. I drive to school and pull up in my Mercedes in the parking lot, there is an Escalade in front of me and a Porche behind me, and I abhor having a cheap car. I park the car and file into school, walk in the front door and to my locker to put my books away. There is the drug school principal with another customer at the locker next to me, Hi, Andy. Oh, no Here comes a nun, better tuck my shirt in. To late, another detention, but on the up side here comes Jon he is so hot it is too bad he does steroids. I go through a usual day, some quizzes and a test. At 220pm, schools over, back out side to the car and drive to Andys. I guess everyone is following me today. Hey look at all the squad cars at Bloom, I wonder who got busted today? I sit down on the couch and talk while everyone else smokes a blunt. Now it is time to go, I get out see everyone at the party tonight. I have to go do homework after all it is only Tuesday. So which is better for a student, private school or public school? I know first hand what it is ... ... that is required.Which high school to attend is a big decision and one that is often made by the parents, but I do not see any reason why a parent who can present a private school would want to put their child through a public school when the private school is obviously the better choice. There are many students who have made it through college from a public school and who have made it through high school and gone on to have great jobs, but the odds are in definite favor of us.BibliographyWorks CitedAnyon, Jean. Chisholm and Free Will :: essays research papers

Before I begin it is pertinent to none the disparate positions on the problem of human liberty. In "Human Freedom and the self-importance", Roderick M. Chisholm takes the libertarian military strength which is contiguous with the doctrine of incompatibility. Libertarians believe in free will and recognize that freedom and determinism are incompatible. The determinist also follow the doctrine of incompatibility, and according to Chisholms formulation, their lieu is that every event involved in an act is caused by some other event. Since they mystify to this type of causality, they believe that all actions are consequential and that freedom of the will is illusory. Compatiblist deny the conflict between free will and determinism. A.J. Ayer makes a compatibilist argument in "Freedom and Necessity".In "Human Freedom and the Self" Chisholm rejects both determinism (every event that is involved in an act is caused by some other event) and indeterminism (the vi ew that the act, or some event that is essential to the act , is not caused at all) on the basis that they are not contingent with the view that human beings are responsbile agents. The main dilemma that he trys to resolve is as follows. If we adhere to strict determinism and indeterminism, then any act is either caused by a previous event or is not caused at all. Consider that we follow determinism and that we support the act is caused by a previous event. If that is the case, and freedom conflicts with determinism, then the person who performed the act is not responsible for it. Also, if the act was not caused at all, the person cannot be responsible for it, that is, human responsibility and indeterminism conflict. So if either determinism or indeterminism were true, there would be no other alternate courses of action and people would not be morally responsible because they could not have done otherwise. Weve already established that Chisholm feels that humans can be morally pra iseworthy or blameworthy notwithstanding if they have free will. His example is one man shooting another man. Although the man performed the act it was also in his power not to perform the act. I know Im starting to sound but bear wtih me. Since the act which he did perform is an act that was in his power not to perform then could not have been caused or determined by any event that was not itself within his power either to leave about or not to bring about.

In Defense of Capital Punishment :: Pro Capital Punishment Essays

In Defense of Capital PunishmentThere are some words that often return when we defend the death penalty legal expert and human dignity. These words likewise constitute a foundation for that which is called democracy and civilization. These two realities can in any case be regarded as two bearing pillars in the defense of capital punishment. Justice is a highly regarded word in society and in politics, hardly within the judicial system and that which concerns crime and punishment, evaluator has, both as a word and as a conception, ended up existing in the shadows. People want to lift out this truth in the light, since justice should be the foundation within the legal system. When the death penalty is discussed the aspect of justice should be allowed in the foreground first and foremost.Man has an inviolable dignity and, therefore, deserves the highest respect. Human dignity and respect, not foremost for the one who hurts his fellowman plainly for the victims of crimes and his relatives, is something that should be brought forwards considerably more than today, and especially in connection with the death penalty. But the prerequisite for that is that sympathy and solidarity with the victim should increase in society. In order to justifiedly value the death penalty it is necessary to have empathy and understanding for all the victims and their relatives. The capital punishment makes up one link on the way to a safer society. The capital punishment means that some heinous criminals never again give walk on the streets, and that makes the society a somewhat safer place.Murderers and violent criminals pass on always exist in society and the death penalty will only lower the number of criminals marginally. It is inevitable, however, that every violent criminal less that exists in a society will mean a safer society. A prison term on the other hand would mean that there would always be a pressing dark cloud of worries over a society. Also, in prisons the int erns and personnel would feel safer with the death penalty. It is not unusual with conflicts, violence and murder in prison. Some interns who have been sentenced to long prison terms or lifetime would probably deter from cruel acts of violence and murder if they knew that it could lead to the death penalty. Today, on the other hand, he who has been sentenced to lifetime in prison cannot be sentenced too much more and, therefore, he would probably neither be deterred from committing further crimes. In Defense of Capital Punishment Pro Capital Punishment EssaysIn Defense of Capital PunishmentThere are some words that often return when we defend the death penalty justice and human dignity. Heart Disease Paper :: Essays Papers

Heart Disease Paper I often have that dream, the ane where die. It doesnt really matter how or when because its different every single time. Other people have told me that theyve had this dream, so Im not worried that Ive lost my mind someplace along the way. My dream is different though. I look to see whos there. Who walks by and cries and who just walks by. Why does this matter? Why do I premeditation? I didnt think I did. I recently talked to my dad on instant messenger. It was a slow talk because computers are rather modern to him and he has to hunt and punch, as he likes to call it. The reason I mention my father is because I was going to interview him about this paper. You see, shopping center disease runs in our family and it is presently his turn to be the one who has to watch what he eats. Before him it was my Grandpa Fikes, who unfortunately is no longer with us. I am no different. I have their genes throughout my body and they are slowly taking their effect o n my heart and me. The problem is that as a college savant I should be in the healthiest and strongest years of my life, but instead I feel like those days are behind me like they were taken away in a gust of wind. I recently stopped at a local Wal-Mart and found one of those machines in the pharmacy department, you know the one that squeezes your arm and tells you not to move because its testing, and took the test. I only took it out of pure boredom because my girlfriend was shopping for girl things. When the test was done I took the figures and compared them to the chart on the left. It just so happens that I was borderline in every category. Of course my girlfriend just happened to be passing by and find my numbers and let out one of her oh so annoying gasps. She made me take it again. The figures still turned out the same though. This made me somewhat anxious as I remembered my Grandpa and my Dad. Was I Next? How could I prevent this from happening to me? Why is this hap pening to me?
